Snack Attack

Do you ever find yourself hungry in between meals but you don’t know what to eat?  You end up eating too big of a snack and now your to full to finish dinner and all you can hear is your mom’s voice echoing in your head “clean your plate!!!”

Well fear no more, one of my favorite in-betweeners, are edamame beans.  Edamame is a complete protein containing all the essential Amino Acids.  They are a great source of protein, fiber, essential fatty acids, and isoflavones (found only in Soy).  A 1/2 cup only has 85 calories, 3 grams of fat, 8 grams of carbs and 6 grams of protein.

Best of all they are hearty enough to hold you over until your next meal and you are fueling your body with proper yummy nutrients!

It's A Lifestyle, Not A Diet That Will Keep You Fabulous Forever!

Diets never ever work!!!  How many people do you know who have gone a diet only to gain ALL the weight back and maybe a little more?  Diets set you up to fail.  Most people cannot stay on a “diet” forever, it’s next to impossible.  This is where lifestyle choices and education comes in.

In order to be fit and fabulous for the rest of your life, you need to understand how your body works.  From the moment we are born our bodies are meant to be fed with a balanced source of nutrients (protein, carb and fat) at regular intervals. This is due to the fact that our energy source and nervous system is fueled by glucose (sugar.) Our body’s number one goal is to create  balance within the body.  This means stabilizing your blood sugar so you do not have those horrible ups and downs that reek havoc on your insides. In order to do this, you must eat a protein, carb and fat at each meal, have the correct amount of calories per meal, and eat every 3 to 4 hours. This creates a balanced state within the body and allows it perform efficiently.  This stablization will promote the release of the body’s stored fat which is burned within muscle tissue. As long as the body maintains balance it will build lean tissue – muscle.  Muscle helps your metabolism and burns stored body fat. Having stable blood sugar will help to eliminate sugar cravings and increase  energy.

Diets will fail and make you miserable by trapping you in a vicious cycle. Remember it’s about lifestyle and learning how your body works. Programs centered on blood sugar stabilization are based on the physiology of the body. You cannot argue with science.  It will always win!  E.
